William Carey

  • Wrote An enquiry into the obligations of Christians to use means for the conversion of the heathen, a formative document that shaped much mission thinking in the 19th and 20th centuries.
  • Accompanied John Thomas, the first missionary appointed by the Baptist Missionary Society, to India in 1793.
