[edit] WEC International
WEC International is a Mission Agency founded in 1913 by Charles Studd. At first is was known as the Heart of Africa Mission and 1919 became known as the Worldwide Evangelization Crusade. Later, recognising the insensitivity of using the word "crusade", the mission was re-named as WEC International. WEC International is focusing on church planting, and emphasises the importance of shared life in a local church as a vital expression of Christian life. WEC prioritises the planting of churches among Unreached People Groups, who have little or no access to the gospel of Jesus Christ.
[edit] WEC International now
WEC International now has 1,840 workers from 51 countries working in 80 countries in multicultural teams among 90 unreached people groups all over the world. The mission currently has an emphasis on making it possible for every group of unreached peoples to hear the Christian Gospel through planting churches among those with little or no opportunity to hear about Jesus. They want to maintain a strong focus on reaching the remaining unevangelized peoples. Having workers from 51 countries there is a need for growing in understanding and improving the effectiveness of their multicultural teams.
[edit] History
Charles Thomas Studd made his first advance to evangelise the heart of Africa in 1913, believing it to be the neediest part of the unevangelised world at that time, and so founded the Heart of Africa Mission. God’s promise to [[C.T. Studd]] was that his journey was not for the heart of Africa only, but for the whole unevangelised world. The work spread to other nations concentrating on areas and peoples who were not being reached by evangelical churches or agencies. This emphasis continues today.
[edit] Principles
It has always been ambition of WEC International to preach the Good News where people have never heard about Jesus, and where there are no churches (see Romans 15:20).
We work in multicultural teams to plant multiplying churches among the least reached peoples of the earth (defined as less than 2% evangelical).
The involvement in any other ministry supports the achievement of this primary objective.
- Absolute faith in the deity of each person of the Trinity.
- Absolute belief in the full inspiration of the Old and New Testament Scriptures.
- Total commitment to know and to preach none other than Jesus Christ and Him crucified.
- Obedience to Christ’s command to love all who love the Lord Jesus sincerely, without partiality, and to love all people.
- Absolute faith in the will, power and providence of God to meet our every need in His service.
The 4 pillars of WEC are Faith, Sacrifice, Holiness and fellowship-
Faith We recognise that God is the supplier of every need in our lives and ministries. Therefore we can trust Him totally to accomplish all that He wishes, in spite of any opposition, difficulty or apparent impossibilities that we might experience.
Sacrifice God's will takes preference to our own in daily living. Personal comfort and desires do not come first. If necessary, we are prepared to live a life of privation and loneliness without regard to economic security or current trends and standards of living.
Holiness We aim to live a life which is pleasing to God in thought, word and deed, not in our own strength but through the power of the Spirit.
Fellowship WEC workers are drawn from various denominational, national and ethnic backgrounds. We believe our oneness in Christ makes it possible for us to live and work together as brothers and sisters; therefore we make every effort to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
[edit] Motto
'If Jesus Christ be God and died for me, then no sacrifice can be too great for me to make for Him.' (C.T. Studd)
[edit] Vision
- WEC desires to bring the gospel of Jesus to the world's remaining unevangelized peoples with utmost urgency.
- WEC desires to demonstrate the compassion of Christ to a needy world.
- WEC desires to plant churches and lead them to spiritual maturity.
- WEC desires to inspire, mobilize, and train believers for cross-cultural mission.
- Stewart and Jean Moulds, UK, 'Despite persecution, aggressively secular political systems and the resistance of other faiths, we have a mission that is possible! This world can and must be reached with the liberating Gospel of Jesus.'

[edit] Missionary Training Centers/Schools
- WEC runs six mission training communities around the world. Each training experience includes lectures, ministry coaching, world vision, practical work and cross-cultural community living. May each of these communities be running to full capacity in 2008. Students are looking for clarity or confirmation as to where God would have them serve Him. Many students will reach these decisions in 2008: stand with them in prayer. Students are hopefully be ignited from the start their passion for God and His purposes to reach the unreached peoples. Second year students leave for a six weeks' taste of mission. They are going all over the world into cross cultural situations. For many there will be big challenges, new food, culture and language, even physical safety. Each one will be asking the Lord for clear guidance about their future.Pray for the continued recruitment and supply of high-quality staff. Pray for a good international mix and for more single male recruits!

[edit] Church Planting
Why plant churches?
Because WEC International believes God wants there to be local churches among unreached peoples. A local church is God's community in which people find ultimate fulfilment and spiritual destiny. It's the community through which he reveals himself to the world

[edit] Rainbows of Hope
Rainbows of Hope (ROH) is a ministry of WEC International to children in crisis throughout the world, promising them hope in Jesus Christ through His Word and the holistic ministry of His Church. The rainbow, sign of a promise of mercy and hope from God, reminds us that God will fulfil His promises to us as surely as He did for Noah.
"The rainbow symbolizes hope for the future. Hope is the deepest need of children in this world.” Phyllis Kilbourn
In 1996, long-term WEC-missionary Phyllis Kilbourn founded a new WEC ministry called Rainbows of Hope. The ministry was a reaction to the devastating worldwide suffering of children who, as a result of events beyond their control, suffer pain and trauma.
ROH is a specialized training and resource ministry of WEC International and a service for WEC fields and other agencies, organizations and churches that desire to touch the lives of children in crisis for our Lord Jesus. * [6]
