[edit] Life
- The vacuum left by Communism has often been filled with violent crime, breakdown in family structures and sexual immorality. Radiation pollution from Chernobyl still affects huge swathes of the country.
[edit] Economy
- The nation is beginning to climb out of its post-Communist economic disaster.

[edit] Churches
- Much superstition and superficiality in the Orthodox and Catholic churches, but also a spiritual minority with a love for the Scriptures. Since independence, evangelical churches have nearly doubled. Further growth could be hampered by lack of resources.

[edit] Mission, Training, Evangelization, Discipleship
- Good, spiritual, theological training is a great need. Resources are the greatest challenge to Christian educators - the lack of trained teachers is overshadowed by the lack of textbooks, facilities and funding for the students themselves. Pray for wise, helpful co-labouring with expatriate partners to raise up many trained Christian leaders for Ukraine and all the former USSR. Pray also for openings and support in ministry for those who graduate.
[edit] Church Planting
- Sunday from Nigeria was a student in Belorussia. He is member of the Network of Nigerian Missionaries Overseas. After graduation and working in a TV station, he felt God calling him to plant a church in Ukraine. He started a church with about 10 people in Kiev, the capital, 10 years ago. Today, 2007, Sunday pastors the largest church in Europe with about 25,000 members. He has already planted a number of daughter churches in the country.
