[edit] Christian Radio
- 99% of the world's people potentially can hear Christian radio programming in a language they can understand.
[edit] Follow-up
- Christian radio stations and programming agencies have a large staff to handle several million letters, faxes, and e-mails sent in by listeners annually. Pray for the protection of senders and letters in the post — in many restricted access countries there is heavy censorship and only a small proportion of the letters get through. Pray for personal letters, literature and Bible Correspondence Courses sent out in return. Pray for new converts to be linked up with groups of other believers. A successful programme format has been church planting via radio. Many new churches have been planted through radio in a variety of countries.
[edit] Following-up radio listeners in the Middle East
- I am involved in Christian radio broadcasting to many Muslim countries. Sometimes the audience has the possibility to SMS, phone or write to ask for literature. However, mail packages containing Bibles are often stopped by the religious security authorities in various countries. Recently I phoned two people in remote areas of my country where I was not legally allowed to travel. I invited these two listeners to come to me instead so we wouldn’t be watched.
- The meeting with the first person was very short. He was glad to have found me. He took a Bible, however, he was also very nervous and said goodbye almost immediately. We agreed that he will contact me again if he needs additional literature or has questions.
- The second person came under the protection of darkness after a four hour bike ride. He spoke enthusiastically about the radio broadcasts. He said that he wanted to study the Christian faith deeply (and honestly it seemed to me), so I gave him not only a Bible and study materials, but also the Jesus Film and other Gospel films. We agreed to stay in touch. A few months after our initial meeting, I met again with the second man. He asked for more books written by believers and videos. I was able to give him these things plus testimonies of Muslims who had encountered the Messiah. Unfortunately we had no time for a personal conversation. Is he a believer or still a seeker? I was unable to find out … this time.

[edit] Radio ministry in Sudan
[edit] Situation until 2003
- Until 2003, Christian broadcasters in Sudan had only a weekly slot on the government AM radio stations. Short wave programs in Nuer, Dinka (FEBA), Juba Arabic (TWR) and Arabic (MERF) were beamed in from abroad.
[edit] Open Doors for Christian radio stations
- In the last years the door for radio ministry in South Sudan is wide open. Persecution Project Foundation operates two tropical band SW transmitters (erected in 2003), airing Christian programs from MERF / Words of Hope and ACROSS. Since 2005 about 12 FM stations have opened. Spirit, Nehemiah Trumpet Call, Sudanese Community Ministries and Radio Bakhita are Christian ministries. The Episcopal Church dioceses in Western Equatoria, supported by Equipping Ministries and the Africa Inland Church supported by Diguna, are among others hoping to open stations in Ezo, Torit, Aweil and Boma.
[edit] Commercial stations also air Christian programs
- Commercial stations also air Christian programs, both pre-recorded and live, but some humanitarian groups exclude Christian content on their stations. Most stations struggle with both technical and financial support.
[edit] Prayer Requests
- Pray that God will use Christian broadcasts to touch the listeners.
- Pray for more training of Sudanese Christians in all aspects of radio broadcasting, especially technical aspects.
