[edit] SPOUSES OF MUSLIM BACKGROUND BELIEVERS
- Many Muslims have to seriously count the cost before following Jesus. Those who are married may face the loss of their spouse as well as their children. For example, one husband and father in Iraq committed his life to the Messiah, but his wife was not at all happy with his decision. She threatened to leave him and take the children, and their relatives would have supported her action. When a married person becomes a follower of Christ, they may be afraid to share with their spouse for fear of divorce or public exposure of their decision to the community. Yet sometimes the wife or husband may be open to hearing the new truths, especially after they see the change in their loved one’s life.
- It can be even harder for single men who come to faith, as there are usually many more of them than there are single lady believers. Women and girls in Muslim cultures have fewer opportunities to learn about different religions. Plus they are often not comfortable acting independently of their tightly knit family and community.
[edit] Prayer Requests
- For spouses of Muslim Background Believers to come to faith and form strong believing families.
- For more single Muslim women to find the Lord and be appropriately matched with husbands.
[edit] Why pray for Muslims?
- Muslims and Christians believe that there is one God, but are we worshiping the same God in word and deed? One might also ask: In a time when many people think that all roads and all religions lead to the one true God, why should one pray for Muslims to come to salvation? Does it make any difference? Are they not already accepted by God?
- Muslims are loved by God. Without doing anything they are loved by Him. God counts Muslim children and adults as precious. He loves every aspect of their languages, food, attitudes and daily life which are truly good and right. However, this does not mean that Muslims have entered into eternal life or have had their sins forgiven.
- Muslims are not inspired by the hope of a new world in which Jesus, the crucified and risen Messiah, reigns as King. Most Muslims have actually been trained not to believe that Jesus died and rose again. Most Muslims around the world have not even had an opportunity to hear the Good News of Jesus’ death for sins and His resurrection, which liberates us from the power of sin, death and demonic bondage.
- Jesus has come so that we can have life and have it in abundance (John 10:10). Therefore let us pray for Muslims so they can enter into that life in the Messiah’s eternal kingdom.
