You might not realize it, but God's heart for the nations permeates the Old Testament. On these pages we will specifically examine the verses that illustrate this. Please confine this page to a list of these verses, and link form here to specific discussions of individual verses.

- Genesis 1:28: God's command to Adam and Eve: ‘Be fruitful and increase in number, fill the earth and subdue it’ God had the vision of "To the end of the world!
- Genesis 9:1: God's command to Noah: ‘Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth’ God had the vision of "To the end of the world!
- Genesis 12:1-3: The Abrahamic Covenant promises all nations will be blessed through Abraham. Galatians 3 says believers in Jesus are heirs to this promise, and that its ultimate fulfillment is the preaching of the Gospel.
- Genesis 18:18: The Abrahamic Covenant is here repeated.

- Nehemiah 4:9 Believing prayer is a help to keep the enemies away

- Esther 8:17. Evangelism and conversion: "many people of other nationalities became Jews because fear (awe? respect?) of the Jews had seized them."

- Psalm 2:8 When we ask God to give us “nations for our inheritance and the ends of the earth for our possession”, we must lay hold of His promise. See also Impression about our task under the UPGs
- Psalm 45:7. A wonderful promise: All peoples will praise HIM for ever and ever.
- Psalm 47:1. A command of our God: Clap your hands, all you nations; shout to God with cries of joy.
- Psalm 66:8. O peoples, let the sound of his praise be heard.
- Psalm 66:20. A wonderful promise for the intercessors for the UPGs: Praise be to God, who has not rejected my prayer! We can be certain our prayer is not in vain, but rather will give much everlasting fruit.
- Psalm 86:9. All peoples were made by God to worship and to glorify HIS name. See also Why do we have to emphasize the Remaining Unevangelized People Groups?

- Proverbs 31:8.9. We are challenged to speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute.

- Isaiah 6:8 Our motto is, send us to reach the peoples in our generation.
- Isaiah 12:4-5. Proclaim that His name is exalted... let this be known in all the world.
- Isaiah 34. He is the righteous judge of all the nations.
- Isaiah 42:6-7. I will make you to be a covenant for the people and a light for the Gentiles, to open eyes that are blind, to free captives from prison and to release from the dungeon those who sit in darkness.
- Isaiah 51:4. God's law would become a light to the nations.
- Isaiah 55:5, An intercessor has this promise: Surely you will summon nations you know not, and nations that do not know you will hasten to you.
- Isaiah 60:3. Kings will come to Israel's light.
- Isaiah 64:1-12. The prophet Isaiah wrestled for the nation of Israel when it had left the correct and right road. Every prayer warrior must read this chapter repeatedly for motivation and inspiration for intercession for the UPGs.
- Isaiah 65:1. The intercession of the prophet is heard and answered. For Paul, in his letter in Romans 10:20 it was clear that the intercession of Isaiah in capter 64 was not just for the nation of Israel, but his intercession was for the peoples who are far and separated from God. - Isaiah 66:19. God would send some "to the nations..."

- Daniel 2:44-45. The kingdom of God would be victorious over the kingdoms of the world.
- Daniel 7:13. All peoples, nations and men of every language worshipped (the Son of Man).

- Ezekiel 36:22-23. For the sake of my holy name... Then the nations will know that I am the Lord...
- Ezekiel 39:7. The nations will know that I am the Lord...

- Micah 4:1-2. The Lord's temple will be established... peoples will stream to it... May nations will come... The Law will go out... The word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
