[edit] Migrant Workers of Asia Pacific
- It is estimated that migrant workers and their families total around 120 million worldwide. Asian Pacific countries house over twelve million migrant workers, a number which shows steady increase. Many migrant workers believe they will find a better life. Many are disappointed. However, during this period of transition and loss of roots, many migrants are open to hearing the Gospel. Cross-cultural workers and nationals are creatively using this unique opportunity to minister to this people group. Their desire is that migrant worker converts will take the message of Christ back to their homeland. Read "Migrant Workers: The Responsive Wave" by Bryan Galloway (IMB-SBC) and Jessie Rushing. [edit] International migrations
- Population growth in poorer countries and the increasing gap between the richer and poorer nations is driving many to seek a better future in another land. Large scale migrations into West Europe, North America, South Africa, Siberia, etc., will continue to grow regardless of whatever barriers are raised or legislation passed. This ‘threat’ could also be a great opportunity for Christian witness — most migrants coming from less-evangelized lands.
