Politically, Micronesia is divided into eight nation-states and territories:
- Federated States of Micronesia, which consists of four states: Kosrae, Yap, Pohnpei, and Chuuk;
- Republic of the Marshall Islands;
- Republic of Palau;
- Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands;
- Republic of Nauru;
- Republic of Kiribati;
- Territory of Guam;
- Territory of Wake Island.
