[edit] Kurdish Bible Translations
[edit] Sorani
- The New Testament in Sorani Kurdish (spoken in the southern part of Northern Iraq and Western Iran) is currently being reviewed before a new printing.
- Any grammatical and theological mistakes and discrepancies are found and corrected.
- The final translation will be accurate but also understandable for an average reader. A balance needs to be found between literal translation and the meaning of the original biblical author.
- A standardised style, word choice and grammar can be applied to all biblical texts.
- An effective programme to have the text tested (read) by sympathetic but non-churched people can be organised, to determine how the passage is understood.
- The translation review for printing can be completed, as soon as possible.
- A review and testing of the Old Testament can begin and be completed within the next two years.
[edit] Kurmanji
- The Kurmanji New Testament for the Kurdish region in Turkey is also being reviewed for corrections before a scheduled reprinting in the middle of this year. Please pray this goal remains on target.
[edit] translation for the Kurds in the Caucasus
- The translation for the Kurds in the Caucasus: The New Testament was printed several years ago, they are currently working on a revision of the New Testament and on translating the Old Testament. Pray that the translation team forge good and effective working relationships.
[edit] Bahdini
- The whole New Testament is not yet available in Bahdini (spoken in Northern Iraq near the Turkish border). Please pray for the team of people already working on the Behdini New Testament.
