  • The Kanembu speaking people live in the desert region of northwestern Chad. Arabic is their second language. The majority of Kanembus are farmers. The 660,000 Kanembu in Chad will continue to send their children to study the Koran in Arabic at Islamic schools. They believe the French schools of their country will teach their children only sinful things.
  • The Islamic faith has been passed down among the Kanembus from generation to generation. Parents only allow their children to study Arabic, since it was the language of their prophet.
  • Almost all Kanembu people are Muslims, and they are very resistant to Christians. There is currently no Bible or portions of the Bible translated in their language. There is a need for workers to do the translation in order that their language will become a written language.
  • Pray that there will be some Kanembu people, who know Arabic very well and will hear and know God’s Word in Arabic, and then tell the other people about Jesus. May the resistance of these people be broken so many will receive lives filled with the riches that only come from knowing Christ.
