[edit] What is Internet Evangelism Day?
In New Testament times, the Roman Road system was strategic in God’s plan. It enabled the spread of the Gospel throughout the then-known world. In the same way, the Internet today is a worldwide network which can facilitate effective Gospel communication.
[edit] What is its purpose?
We wish to communicate the outreach potential of the Web to the worldwide church. The site has a twin-track purpose:
- to explain the strategies needed to use the web for evangelism, along with showcase examples, and demonstrate the many ways you could be involved. One surprising fact: you do not need to be technically gifted to do web evangelism!
- to enable you to communicate these truths to others, by providing free downloads: PowerPoint, video clips, drama scripts, handouts, etc. These enable churches and other groups to build a web evangelism focus program into a service or other activities.
- So we ask churches, Bible Colleges and other Christian organizations to consider including within their schedules an Internet Evangelism focus day, on 29 April 2007 or any date that fits your schedule. Read how other churches and groups have already used this program.
- The next Internet Evangelism focus day is on 27 April 2007. Please can you help? Internet Evangelism Day has no promotion budget. Can you send our news release to Christian magazine editors, religion correspondents of secular newspapers, online newsletters, bloggers, Christian leaders - anyone who could possibly be interested: latest News (RTF file).
[edit] How can our group take part?
- [1] This site offers downloadable resources with suggestions and background material, to help your church or group create an effective IE Day focus. The material enable you to create a ‘mix and match, do-it-yourself’ program. It can be 5 minutes or 50; and included within a church service, after-church meeting, mid-week home-group, Bible College seminar, or any other appropriate meeting for Christians. Follow the ‘planning’ link in the left-hand menu bar to view and download these resources. There is also a 17-slide PowerPoint presentation if you need to explain the concept to your leadership or decision-making team.
We urge denomination headquarters teams to consider endorsing and promoting IE Day to all their member churches, and using our partner link system which will place your name and URL on all pages of this site.
[edit] Who initiated Internet Evangelism Day?
The Internet Evangelism Coalition (IEC) – an umbrella group of evangelical Christian organizations who share a vision for online outreach – is backing the IE Day and facilitating its promotion.
[edit] Statement of Faith
Internet Evangelism Day shares the faith statement of the Internet Evangelism Coalition:
- We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.
- We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
- We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.
- We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful people, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.
- We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.
- We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
- We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
