[edit] The Fulbe (Fulani, Fula, Peul) Cluster

  • The Fulbe/Fulas are traditionally a nomadic people who shepherd their flocks and herds across West Africa from the Atlantic coast of Senegal to Western Chad, living in 16 countries. There could be more than 20m of them living among other peoples of the region. The vast majority are Muslim. Today many Fula are settled as farmers or traders, or have migrated to the West. Their language has many dialects. Twelve million live in Nigeria. Some form the ruling class there. Others are nomadic cattle grazers across Nigeria and the Sahel. There is Christian work among this Cluster in Senegal, Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea (Conakry) and Burkina Faso. If the gospel gripped this group, all West Africa would be affected!
  • May God give the right strategies for reaching the Fulbe peoples - the nomadic cattle people being a particular challenge.
  • There is an urgent need for a team of outreach to the Fula in Guinea.
