- BSI is based in Bangalore. Their motto is to translate the word of God in languages, which people can understand and produce the scriptures to reach out to the people. The Bible Society of India works together with many organizations in India to translate the Bible into various Indian Languages. The Bible is now available in 49 Indian Languages.
- A series of biblical texts called "Ronnie's Bible" encouraging those who are HIV positive or already terminally ill has been released in India. The texts were made public in Bangalore on Feb. 15. The Bible Society of India is planning to translate Ronnie's Bible from English into 5 Indian languages as the AIDS epidemic is spreading fast.
- On 3 Nov. 2006 audio cassettes in Bhilodi and Vagadi languages were released in Mehmedabad, Gujarat. Those were produced in collaboration with Sharing Love Mission. Dungra Bhili and Vasavi cassettes, as well as Vasavi New Testament, were released on 10 Dec. 06 at the CNI church, Ankleshwar. Varali audio cassette was released on 1 Jan. 07 in the South Gujarat. A special Kutchi Bible Translation Project Consultation and Kutchi language celebrations were held at Gandhidham during Feb. 22-24, 2007. - BSI Dimapur Auxiliary raises funds for the Bible work by conducting football matches. On 6 May, 2007 a new Branch in Baroda, Gujarat was added to the fleet of 54 existing Branches of the BSI Gujarat Auxiliary. On 18 June a delegation from this Auxiliary visited Bartimai Centre for the vision-impaired in Ahmedabad. They carried along special slates and pens which are used to teach Braille. It was a truly rewarding experience to see young school children learning their lessons using BSI's gifts. The delegation also presented a book of Psalms in Braille to the Director of the Centre. May the people of Gujarat be transformed by the message of the Bible.
- Kannada New Testament with Psalms and Proverbs was released on 10 June 2007. At a church in Hubli on the Bible Sunday 19 August, three varieties of Kannada Luxury Bible (Large Print) and another three of Luxury New Testament were released. The people of Karnataka now have a total of 18 varieties of the Bible in their mother tongue.
